Issue No.38
“Travel is never a matter of money, but of courage.”
Event Highlight: Adams Morgan Fall Porchfest (Saturday, November 4th )
Organized by the Adams Morgan Business Improvement District (BID). the Adams Morgan Fall Porchfest was in full swing on a sunny and unusually warm winter Saturday. Seriously, what is up with all the warm days during November all of a sudden? The temperature rose to a good 70°F during the day but we were dressed for winter in pants and a jacket. It makes us wonder how December and January are going to be like with potential snowfall.
Almost 80 bands were featured in performances all over the Adams Morgan neighborhood including rap and hip-hop legend Flex Matthews and DC’S Dreamy Pop Princess Ari Voxx. We hopped from porch to porch enjoying different genres of music with heavy metal all the way to bluegrass. Every part of the neighborhood had a different vibe which was amazing.
The cool part of the whole event was that you got a free, yellow wristband that let you get different discounts from businesses in the area. For example, you could get 15% off an order and get a free water or soda at a local restaurant. This was truly an ingenious method to involve the Adams Morgan community, music lovers, and local businesses to create an amazing day. We also met up with our friend Curious Caravan who was also in the area listening to some of their favorite bands.
