1. International Movie Night: My Wonderful Wanda (5PM - 7PM) (FREE!) 📽️ 

   • Description: Wanda, a Polish woman, takes care of 70-year-old Joseph in his family villa on the lake. She is always there for him and also helps his wife Elsa. The work is poorly paid, but Wanda needs the money for her family.

   • Description: Join us for an enlightening and thought-provoking talk on "Surviving the Anthropocene and Securing Human Well-being in the 21st Century".

4. Like a Sky Inside Book Talk (7PM - 8PM) (FREE!) 📕 

   • Book Description: In March 2020--as part of Alina Gurdiel's series “Ma nuit au musée”, where writers are invited to spend a night in a museum--Jakuta Alikavazovic camped out in the Louvre Museum. At home: her nine-month-old son. In her overnight bag: a notebook, a toiletry kit, a duvet, a cube of nougat, and something that shouldn’t be there.

1. Globalization of the Bioeconomy Lecture (9AM - 10:30AM)

   • Description: The bioeconomy approach to sustainable development holds great promise in reducing dependence on fossil fuels, addressing climate change, and promoting resource-use efficiency, thereby stimulating economic growth, enabling innovation, and improving food security.

2. Taiwan Relations Act At 45 Years and Counting Lecture (12PM - 2PM) (FREE!)

   • Description: The landmark Taiwan Relations Act (TRA) was signed into law by the United States Congress and serves as a foundation for US-Taiwan relations, and guides bilateral and broader policymaking toward the region. As the TRA celebrates 45 years, the Sigur Center for Asian Studies is holding a Roundtable to take stock.

2. After Life Film Screening (2PM - 4PM) (FREE!) 📽️ 

   • Description: If you could choose only one memory to hold on to for eternity, what would it be? That’s the question at the heart of Hirokazu Kore-eda’s revelatory international breakthrough, a bittersweet fantasia in which the recently deceased find themselves in a limbo realm where they must select a single cherished moment from their life to be recreated on film for them to take into the next world.

3. This Summer Will Be Different Book Talk (6PM - 8PM) ($22.20, ticket price includes a copy of the book required for signing event) 📕 

   • Book Description: Lucy is the tourist vacationing at a beach house on Prince Edward Island. Felix is the local who shows her a very good time. The only problem: Lucy doesn’t know he’s her best friend’s younger brother. Lucy and Felix’s chemistry is unreal, but the list of reasons why they need to stay away from each other is long, and they vow to never repeat that electric night again.

4. Tango and Champagne Soiree: Argentine Tango Lessons and Dance Soiree (7PM - 9:30PM) ($32.86) 💃

1. Berlin Airlift Turns 75 Exhibit (6PM - 8PM) ($23.18) 🎨

2. Cia Armorial from Brazil at the Art Museum of the Americas (5PM - 7PM) (Donate what you can!) 🎵 

   • Description: The General Consulate of Brazil, the Permanent Mission of Brazil to the OAS, and the OAS AMA | Art Museum of the Americas invite you to the concert of Cia Armorial at the AMA on Friday, May 10 at 5pm.

3. Mary Lou Williams Jazz Festival 2024 Performance (7:30PM - 8:45PM) ($40 - $60) 🎵 

   • Description: Join us in honoring the life and work of the “first lady of jazz,” legendary pianist and composer Mary Lou Williams. Hosted by the incomparable Dee Dee Bridgewater, this year’s two-day festival features performances by Eliane Elias, Endea Owens, Ingrid Jensen and the Center Song Project, Julia Keefe’s Indigenous Big Band, and more phenomenal women leading today’s jazz scene.

2. Thai Flavors with Marianne Tshihamba (11AM - 2PM) ($69) 🍽️ 

   • Description: In this interactive cooking class, Marianne Tshihamba serves up dishes inspired by her travels. Lets take a tour to Thailand and learn to make some of Thailands’ most iconic dishes at home. In this class we will be preparing Pad Thai, Thai Beef Salad, and Sicky Rice with Mango.
