   • Description: Scheduled public events include performances by the United States Air Force Band’s Singing Sergeants and the U.S. Coast Guard Band, followed by a parade of colors by veterans’ organizations and remarks from dignitaries.

   • Description: Join us for a Memorial Day Wreath laying ceremony for this special day.

   • Description: The National Memorial Day Parade presented by Boeing returns LIVE to Constitution Avenue this Memorial Day, May 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM, with pre-parade musical performances starting at 1:00 PM!

1. Friends of Europe Ukraine Security Forum: "The Cost of Inaction" DC Viewing (9:30AM - 12PM) (FREE!)

2. Hidden Portals (10AM - 5PM) (FREE!)

   • Description: Experience historic Asian American communities through Hidden Portals, a series of virtual reconstructions created by 2023-2024 Library of Congress Innovator in Residence Jeffrey Yoo Warren using maps and photographs from the Library’s collections.

3. Bearing Witness Exhibit (3PM - 4PM) (FREE!) 🖼️ 

   • Description: The Italian Cultural Institute of Washington presents “Bearing Witness”, a photo exhibition on 40 years of conflicts around the World covered from the frontlines.

4. Try Japanese Calligraphy (4PM - 5PM) (FREE!) 🇯🇵 

   • Description: Join us as we celebrate Asian American And Pacific Islander Heritage Month with the Embassy of Japan. The JICC staff will be presenting an introductory lesson on the Japanese art of calligraphy using both video and hands on training. Learn the beauty and technique of this traditional Japanese art, as well as how to write your own name in Japanese to take home with you!

3. Combo Daguerre Performance (6PM - 7PM) (FREE!) 🎵 

   • Description: After dealing in mostly Latin tropical styles for over a decade, with the psychedelic cumbia of his band Chicha Libre in particular, Brooklyn–based Olivier Conan now leads Combo Daguerre, a group that performs original French tunes with a psychedelic edge and a mostly Latin crew.

4. Integration without Identification Lecture: NBC TV, Leontyne Price and Opera Casting in the Civil Rights Era (7PM - 8PM) (FREE!)

   • Description: This lecture by Danielle Ward-Griffin, assistant professor of musicology at Rice University, examines television and its influence on opera casting practices during the early civil rights movement. She traces how the NBC’s color-blind “Integration without Identification” policy was praised for eliminating stereotypes and hiring Black performers in its prestige arts programs

   • Description: Joanna Warczewska, daughter of an eminent writer, is at the peak of her life. 1. AFPC Webinar: Iran's Role in Middle Eastern Extremism (11AM - 12PM) (FREE!)

   • Description: For decades, the Islamic Republic of Iran has served as the world’s most active state sponsor of terrorism. Today, in keeping with its imperative of “exporting the revolution,” the country’s clerical regime is bankrolling and directing an array of proxy groups in the region which pose a challenge to American interests and U.S. allies in the region. This webinar will explore the ideological underpinnings of Iran’s support for regional extremism, internal dynamics within the Islamic Republic, and the implications for the West.

4. Nobody's Daughter Haewon Film Screening (1:30PM - 3PM) (FREE!) 📽️ 

   • Description: In 2013, Hong Sangsoo began to shift the focus of his films from bungling male protagonists to the women they haplessly pursue. In this romantic chamber piece, a film student named Haewon (Jung Eun-chae) falls into a depression and seeks solace in her ex-lover, a married film professor, played by the late Lee Sun-kyun (Parasite).
