Embassy Life in DC Newsletter #7
↞ Rewinding the Week (March 27th - April 2nd) ↞
Happy April Fools Day! Just kidding, that was technically on April 1st. You know the drill: another week, another list of awesome events to attend! I hope that this week brings about more sun, less rain, and loads of fun for all of my awesome readers.
Also, happy to report that we passed 100 followers on the Instagram platform 😄 as well as a good 50+ count for the newsletter. Always humbled to see people interested in this passion project and as always thank you for reading.
Event Highlight: The Embassy of Austria and Viennese Waltz (March 30th)
Technically, this event at the Embassy of Austria was a precursor in terms of practice to the gala event that transpired the night after on Friday, March 31st in terms of practicing the Viennese Waltz. Sadly, I could not attend the gala due to prior plans I had already committed to. However, I still enjoyed seeing the Embassy of Austria for the first time along with chatting up several other people. Once one entered the threshold, there was a massive dance floor set up in the middle of the hall surrounded on all sides by exquisite paintings and photographs of the Austrian landscape. In the back, an adjacent room lay with an assortment of cheeses and hams along with a bar to obtain refreshments.
The stars of the night were a pair of professional dancers who are masters of the Viennese Waltz and responsible for instructing the students on the decorum of such a dance. Truly, out of all the dance forms I have had the privilege of studying, the Viennese Waltz is one of the most elegant with a focus on movement, twirling, and keeping in rhythm with your partner. It was amusing to switch from follower to follower while trying to act as a good leader myself with the waltz. Some individuals did not know at all what they were doing to true experts of the dancing craft.
As always, thank you to the International Club of DC and the Embassy of Austria for a stellar night!
