Reviewing The Week (Monday, July 10th - Sunday, July 16th )

We have had some insane weather recently in the Washington DC area as of late! On Friday, when we were attending an event at the National Museum of Asian Art, a massive thunderstorm hit suddenly overhead. Reader, we were standing in the Freer Plaza when a literal monsoon had started all around us and other folks. The irony was that we were celebrating a Philippine cultural festival at the actual museum. So, we got a dose of the real thing with a Philippine monsoon.

After the storm had passed, we were blessed to see a magical double rainbow appear in the sky. It was so amazing to see such a raw display of nature’s power with a thunderstorm only to replace it with a dazzling array of colors in the sky. Check out the rainbow down below:

Event Highlight: The Monaco Boys Choir (Wednesday, July 12th )

The inception of the group known as The Monaco Boys Choir can be traced back to the XVIIIth century with the reign of Prince Antonio the 1st . The ancestor of the future “Choir of the Monaco Cathedral” had a mission to ensure that liturgies were carried out at the Palatine Chapel. In 1904, Prince Albert the 1st and the Bishop of Monaco appointed Monsiegneur Perruchot with the charge of organizing a choral group. As a renowned musician himself, Perruchot was able to grow the choir in both size and reputation.

The Monaco Boys Choir has had several directors through its lifetime including the current director known as Pierre Debat. Under his leadership, the choir has visited more than thirty five countries from Argentina to the Philippines. Following their amazing performance in DC at the Kennedy Center, the Monaco Boys Choir will perform in several other states including Florida, Louisiana, and North Carolina. Thank you to the Kennedy Center for featuring them on the Millennium Stage and the Monaco Boys Choir for their amazing performance.
